BANORA POINT SHOPPING VILLAGE

Contract value: $1.5M

Scope: Bulk earthworks, civil drainage, asphalt pavements

Bayleys Earthworks delivered the civil enabling works to support upgrades at the Banora Point Shopping Village. The package combined mass earthworks to establish design levels, installation of new stormwater assets, and construction of durable asphalt pavements and tie‑ins around the retail precinct.

Delivery approach that worked:

  • Up‑front survey and set‑out to lock in finished surface levels and avoid clashes with shopfront thresholds and accessibility grades.

  • Staged construction and traffic management to maintain customer access and store deliveries.

  • Lot‑based QA: proof rolling, density testing and level checks at defined hold points to keep rework off the critical path.

  • Practical environmental controls—sediment fencing, stabilised site entries, and temporary drainage—to manage runoff during wet weather.

Technical scope highlights:

  • Bulk earthworks: Cut/fill to grade carpark zones and pads, removal of unsuitable material where encountered, import of select fill, subgrade preparation and remediation as required.

  • Civil drainage: New stormwater pipes, pits and inlets; tie‑ins to existing networks; upgrades to capture and convey peak flows; reinstatement of affected surfaces.

  • Asphalt pavements: Preparation of sub‑base and basecourse, placement of asphalt wearing course sized for retail traffic loads, and clean tie‑ins to existing pavements with line‑marking coordinated.
